The Sweet Story

Behind Hershey's Kisses

In 1907, Milton Hershey introduced a bite-sized chocolate that would become a classic. As each teardrop-shaped piece dropped onto the production line, it made a soft “kissing” sound — or so the story goes — giving the candy its iconic name.

Originally wrapped by hand in silver foil, Kisses gained their signature paper plume in 1921. Small, shareable, and sweet, they’ve been a symbol of affection ever since.
