Honeybees Have Five Eyes

And See the World Like Superheroes

Five-Eyed Flyers
Honeybees aren’t just buzzing around aimlessly—they’ve got a built-in navigation system with five eyes. Two large compound eyes help them see in many directions at once, perfect for spotting flowers and avoiding predators.

But the secret lies in the three smaller eyes on top of their heads, called ocelli. These simple eyes detect light and help bees stay on course, even miles from home. Together, their five eyes make honeybees expert pilots and top-tier pollinators.
