Instead of individual birthday celebrations, everyone would observe their birthday together on Losar, marking the start of a new year with a fresh beginning for all.

While some people in Bhutan now celebrate their birthdays on the actual date due to modern record-keeping, the tradition of marking birthdays collectively on New Year’s still persists in certain parts of the country.
