Spain Produces the Most Olive Oil in the World

Spain is the world’s top producer of olive oil, responsible for roughly 40–45% of global output. But much of that oil doesn’t leave the country with a Spanish label. It’s often exported in bulk to other countries like Italy, Greece, and Portugal, where it’s bottled and rebranded.
That’s why a bottle labeled “Product of Italy” might actually contain Spanish oil. It’s legal as long as the packaging company meets the labeling rules, and marketing “Italian olive oil” tends to fetch higher prices.
Italy accounts for around 15-20% of global production. Greece produces 10-15% of the world's supply with a focus on extra virgin quality.
Runners-up include Turkey and Tunisia which, have both climbed in production in recent years.
