The Real Reason Some Eggs Are Brown and Others White

Why Are Some Eggs Brown and Others White?
It’s not the egg—it’s the chicken. White-feathered hens with white earlobes usually lay white eggs, while red-feathered hens with red earlobes tend to lay brown ones. Some breeds even surprise us with blue or green shells.
Nutritionally, there’s no difference at all. Brown eggs only cost more because the hens that lay them are bigger and eat more feed. And while brown shells sometimes feel thicker, that’s really down to the hen’s age and diet, not the color.
