The Tractor King Who Took on Ferrari

Ferruccio Lamborghini built his fortune making tractors after World War II and spent it on a collection of luxury sports cars, including several Ferraris. But he kept having trouble with the clutches. They wore out too quickly. When he complained to Enzo Ferrari, the legendary carmaker brushed him off, reportedly telling him to stick to tractors.
Lamborghini decided he could do better. He used his own engineers and designs to build a smoother, more reliable car.
In 1963, Automobili Lamborghini was born, and one of the most famous rivalries in automotive history roared to life.
Lamborghini is now owned by Volkswagen Group, through its subsidiary Audi AG. In 2023, Bloomberg analysts estimated Lamborghini's valuation at approximately €19.7 billion. In 2024, Lamborghini's revenue reached a record €3.09 billion.
