Think Egypt Has the Most Pyramids?

Think Again.

The Pyramids of Giza in Egypt beneath a blue sky with scattered clouds

When people think of pyramids, Egypt usually steals the show—but Sudan is actually home to the most pyramids in the world, with over 200. These ancient structures were built in the region once known as Nubia, by the powerful Kingdom of Kush. Though smaller and steeper than Egypt’s famous pyramids, they served the same purpose: royal tombs. Egypt may have the iconic giants of Giza, but Sudan’s forgotten legacy quietly holds the global pyramid record.
