The First Sport to be Filmed was...

Boxing

The first sport to be filmed is widely considered to be boxing. The earliest known motion picture footage of a sporting event captures a boxing match. 


This historic footage dates back to 1894 and features a match between British boxers S.H. Day and Joe Choynski. This event was filmed by the Edison Manufacturing Company in New York City.
