Tucked above the U.S. Supreme Court chamber is a basketball court—nicknamed “The Highest Court in the Land.” It wasn’t planned that way. Originally built as a gym in 1935, the top-floor space was casually converted into a place to shoot hoops by clerks and staff in the 1940s or '50s.
It's not regulation-sized, but it’s beloved by insiders. Just don’t play during court sessions—the thuds might interrupt history in the making.
