Goldfish Crackers
A Love Story in Every Bite

Did you know that Goldfish crackers started as a romantic gesture? Back in 1958, Swiss baker Oscar J. Kambly wanted to create a special birthday gift for his wife, who happened to be a Pisces. Inspired by her zodiac sign, he designed the crackers in the shape of a fish, and they were originally called "Goldfischli." This playful and thoughtful design symbolized not only his love for his wife but also a nod to her astrological sign.
Kambly's charming fish-shaped crackers became popular in Switzerland, and in 1962, Margaret Rudkin, the founder of Pepperidge Farm, discovered them while vacationing in Europe. She loved them so much that she decided to bring them to the United States, where they quickly became a beloved snack known as Goldfish. Over the years, the crackers have been produced in a variety of flavors, including the famous cheddar, and have become a staple in American households.
