Halley's Comet Strikes Again!
Don't Miss the Eta Aquariid Meteor Shower

Yes, the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is currently active and will peak during the early morning hours of May 5 and 6, 2025. This annual meteor shower, originating from debris left by Halley's Comet, is known for its fast-moving meteors that often leave glowing trails. In the Northern Hemisphere, observers can expect to see approximately 10 to 15 meteors per hour under optimal dark-sky conditions .
For the best viewing experience, it's recommended to watch the sky between 2:00 a.m. and dawn, when the radiant point in the constellation Aquarius is highest. No special equipment is needed—just find a dark, open area away from city lights, lie back, and allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness. However, please note that weather conditions in Haverhill are expected to be mostly cloudy with a chance of light rain, which may hinder visibility .
The Eta Aquariid meteor shower will remain active until May 28, so if the weather doesn't cooperate on the peak nights, there will still be opportunities to catch meteors in the following weeks.
