He Explained Gravity, But Rarely Spoke in Parliament

Isaac Newton (1643 – 1727) transformed science, formulating the laws of motion, describing gravity as a universal force, advancing calculus, and showing that white light is made of a spectrum of colors.
He also served in Parliament, representing the University of Cambridge in 1689–1690 and again in 1701–1702, though he left little record of speaking in debates. Later accounts suggest he may have spoken only once, to ask for a window to be closed, but details are uncertain.
