In 1906, Kellogg’s needed a clever way to get people excited about their new Corn Flakes. The solution? A wink.

As part of a cheeky marketing stunt, ads instructed women to wink at their grocer to receive a free box. In an era when winking could raise eyebrows, the campaign stirred plenty of buzz—and cereal giveaways.
