Did the Nazis Try to Kill Churchill

With an Exploding Chocolate Bar?

One of the strangest Nazi assassination plots during WWII involved an exploding chocolate bar. The plan? Smuggle a deadly sweet into Churchill’s vicinity and hope he took a bite.

Disguised as a high-end dark chocolate bar, the device hid a pressure-triggered explosive that would detonate when broken or bitten into. It was meant to be left casually within reach—perhaps on a dining table.

Luckily, MI5 uncovered the plot before it got anywhere near Churchill. The chocolate bomb never exploded, but it remains a chilling reminder of the bizarre lengths the Nazis would go to.
