Emperor Nero - Master of Disguise

And Questionable Hobbies...

Emperor Nero—Rome's most infamous ruler—wasn’t your average emperor lounging around in togas all day. No, he liked to spice things up a bit by wandering the streets of Rome in disguise, like an ancient version of an incognito celebrity. Except, instead of avoiding the paparazzi, Nero was busy playing pranks and causing chaos. He’d dress as a commoner and head out at night, accompanied by a gang of rowdy friends, to prank unsuspecting citizens. Sometimes, he’d even mug people just for the thrill of it (though as emperor, he didn’t really need the spare change). Imagine bumping into the Emperor of Rome on your late-night stroll... and he’s trying to rob you! Awkward, right?

But Nero’s eccentricities didn’t stop there. When he wasn’t prowling the streets, he was living out his theatrical dreams. He fancied himself a great actor, musician, and charioteer, often forcing Roman nobles to attend his elaborate performances. Picture an emperor on stage, strumming a lyre, singing his heart out, and expecting thunderous applause—because if you didn’t clap, you might end up missing your next dinner... permanently.

Nero was also the ultimate "extra" guy. He built a massive palace, the Domus Aurea, complete with a colossal statue of—you guessed it—himself. The palace even had a revolving dining room so that he could always face a perfect view while eating. Who needs a simple dinner when you can have the ground literally turn beneath your feet?
