Becoming Patton: From Timid to Titan

George S. Patton wasn’t born a bulldog—he built one. As a young man, he was shy, soft-spoken, and struggled with a stutter. But Patton believed great generals had to look and sound the part.
He practiced a fierce glare, adopted a swaggering walk, and designed his own sharp uniforms—complete with polished boots and a pearl-handled revolver—to project confidence and command. His battlefield bravado was part performance, all aimed at inspiring troops and intimidating enemies.
